People Think Our Owner Really Knows Her Stuff
“Amy wrote the book on engaging social media to communicate to an audience”
I have known and worked with Amy for almost 20 years. Much of our work together consisted of public affairs in the National Guard. She was always a pioneer, introducing ways to communicate to audiences during a crisis and telling an engaging story about the humanity behind the military uniform. She has a way of relating to her intended audience with an intention toward connection, which is the strength of her writing and intuitive way of understanding what story to tell and how to tell it. Her communications experience spreads from flood emergencies in the state, to writing about wartime happenings and other overseas missions in Germany and beyond. She has experience with conducting new website builds as well as social media management and engagement. Amy wrote the book on engaging social media to communicate to an audience and the National Guard used her implementation of social media during flood operations to use into their national operating procedures for all states. She knew the power of social media before it was adopted by the military on a national level. She consistently knows the right media tool that will create the intended connection between the audience and the message. I highly recommend her expertise in social media, writing and creative direction.
Billie Jo Lorius, Director of Communications & Media Relations, North Dakota University System
“She doesn’t just inform audiences, she provides them with an experience.”
Amy is an extremely well-rounded communications professional. I was fortunate to not only work alongside her, but to be mentored by her as well. She can beautifully and artistically create messaging in the form of news stories, feature stories, and social media content. She also knows how to visually engage an audience. She doesn’t just inform audiences, she provides them with an experience. Perhaps one of Amy’s greatest skills is her ability to connect with individuals on an interpersonal level. She does this genuinely and it’s a part of what makes her a great communicator. She establishes rapport well and she makes people (whether they are interview subjects, team members, or stakeholders) feel valued and comfortable. She is compassionate and has a genuine desire for continued learning. Her strengths make her an incredible asset for any project.

“The service she provides … is clear and concise. We have enjoyed the partnership.”
The American Legion, Department of North Dakota has used the services of Neon Loon to promote our social media information across the Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter platforms for several years. As the department commander, I had the opportunity to work with Amy on many issues and ideas. The service she provides in sharing American Legion programs, events, and general information is clear and concise. We have enjoyed the partnership with Amy and Neon Loon.

“She is extraordinarily gifted in multiple communications fields.”
I worked with Amy when I was just starting out in public affairs/communications and I was very lucky to have her at my side. As a generous mentor and co-worker, she taught me the art (or dark arts, rather) of copy editing and the importance of paying attention to detail. She is extraordinarily gifted in multiple communications fields. Amy is a wonderful writer, particularly of feature stories, in which she is able to humanize people and events and make readers empathize with a person’s challenges while celebrating their triumphs. Any client who needs to connect with their audience on a personal or emotional level would benefit from Amy’s storytelling. Amy also is skilled as a graphic designer and is up-to-date on current social marketing trends. If there is a platform she is not familiar with, it would take her no time at all to research it and use it to its fullest potential. Also, Amy is easy to talk to and very efficient in her work. She gives 100 percent effort in all that she does. I’ve been working in communications in North Dakota for nearly two decades. Amy is probably the best communicator I have worked with in that time.
Eric Jensen, Strategic Communications Chief, North Dakota Department of Emergency Services
“She cultivate[s] strategic and meaningful messages in various forms in a rather short amount of time.”
Amy is a total ‘people person’. She easily connects with people, makes them feel welcome and is a great listener. These special characteristics help her cultivate strategic and meaningful messages in various forms in a rather short amount of time. Amy played a vital role in helping me improve my written communication skills when she served as my supervisor and I will always be grateful for her knowledge and expertise. I would recommend Amy to anyone seeking assistance in marketing and communications.

“I have never experienced a more proficient storyteller/writer than Amy.”
During my 15-plus years of conducting public affairs operations for the North Dakota National Guard, I have never experienced a more proficient storyteller/writer than Amy. Her ability to write feature stories along with informational releases was especially noteworthy and important to our public affairs mission during 2009 statewide flooding. Her initiatives in bringing social media to our PA shop during this flood emergency, immensely aided our crisis communication to civilian media and for internal communications within our 4,100 Guard Soldiers and Airmen. Because of her actions, the North Dakota National Guard was a trailblazer in social media operations for National Guard units across the nation. Amy’s many writing awards from the National Guard Bureau, U.S. Army and Department of Defense is a testimony to her expertise, proficiency, and professionalism. Her retirement from the National Guard was a loss to this organization.
Bill Prokopyk, Public Affairs Officer, North Dakota National Guard
“Her work speaks for itself.”
Amy is incredibly knowledgeable, sharp and has an ease with getting to know and understand people and businesses. Not only is she dynamic in personality, her work speaks for itself. Amy taught me how to be a better writer and communicator. And I credit her for a lot of the success I have had over the years.
